Research

More than 200'000'000 sharks are killed every year. This is equivalent to 280’000 sharks per day, or 11’500 sharks per hour, or 100 sharks during the time it takes you to read this page.

In public, sharks have a rather bad reputation: Dangerous, killer, unpredictable, sneaking, etc. This reputation is for an animal, which in reality is extremely shy, cautious, intelligent, while being elegant and graceful.

The mission of Shark-World is to promote research and protection of sharks.

Only when we know these animals inside out are we able to properly inform the public, reduce and remove the broadly spread fear of sharks.

Once the fear of sharks no longer exists or is reduced to a reasonable respect, mankind will be willing to protect sharks.

Shark-World activities concentrate on 3 major areas

  • Promotion and support of the work done by Dr. Erich Ritter in the area of shark research, especially in the domain of human-shark interaction
  • Publishing of research results to improve the image of sharks
  • Activities to protect sharks and their habitat

To be successful with these activities, we need your support.

Help us prevent sharks from being extinct, become a member or sponsor of Shark-World.
